What It Is

Dedicated Means One Tenant

The word gets used three different ways in this industry. Here is which one we mean.

A Machine, Not A Share Of One

A Google Compute Engine instance in Singapore allocated to you alone. Four vCPUs and 16 GB of memory to begin with, larger if your sites need it.

Your Own Database Instance

A private Cloud SQL instance for your sites only, rather than a schema on a shared one. Nobody else’s queries compete with yours.

Capacity You Can Reason About

You know what the machine is, what is on it and what is left. No pooled allowance shared with strangers, and no neighbour to blame.

What You Get

The Platform, On Your Own Machine

The Same Platform, Alone On It

Containers per site, nightly backups kept 30 days, staging, malware scanning, SFTP, WP-CLI and the database manager. Nothing is removed, it simply runs on your own hardware.

Room For Many Sites Or One Large One

Around twenty-five ordinary business sites, or a single heavy store or publication that wants the whole machine to itself.

Still Singapore

The same region, the same Cloudflare edge in front. Dedicated changes who you share with, not where the site lives.

A Named Person On Tickets

Someone who knows your estate reads your tickets, rather than whoever is next in the queue.

Moving In Will Be Our Job

Sites already on a shared Oxyforge plan are moved onto your machine by us, with their files, database and domains intact. You do not copy anything across yourself.

What It Is Not

It is not root access and it is not a VPS. We still run the machine, patch it and keep it alive. If you want to administer a server yourself, buy a server.

Who It Suits

Two Kinds Of Customer

An agency with twenty or more client sites, where the sums start to favour a whole machine over a shared plan. Or a single site busy enough that sharing with anyone is the thing holding it back.

If you run one business website, or ten quiet ones, a shared plan is genuinely the better buy and we will say so. A dedicated machine mostly buys predictability, and predictability only matters once you have something to protect.

Pricing

What We Are Planning

Not final, and nothing can be bought today. Published anyway, because a page about a product with a hidden price is not worth reading.

Dedicated 4

USD 490 a month, or USD 4,900 a year. Four vCPUs, 16 GB of memory, a 100 GB data disk and a private database instance. Around twenty-five ordinary business sites, or one busy one.

Dedicated 8

USD 790 a month, or USD 7,900 a year. Eight vCPUs, 32 GB of memory, a 200 GB data disk and a private database instance. For a store or publication that wants room to spare.

Enrollment Closed

Both prices are published so you can plan. Neither can be bought while enrollment is closed. There is no setup fee and there will not be one. Larger machines are priced on what Google charges us, at the same margin, worked out in front of you.

Questions

The Ones Worth Asking

Why is enrollment closed?

We open dedicated machines in batches rather than continuously, so each one is set up and handed over properly. Register your interest and you go on the list for the next batch, at the published price.

What will it cost?

Two sizes. Dedicated 4 is USD 490 a month or USD 4,900 a year, for four vCPUs, 16 GB of memory, a 100 GB disk and a private database instance. Dedicated 8 is USD 790 a month or USD 7,900 a year, for eight vCPUs, 32 GB and a 200 GB disk. Larger machines are priced on what Google charges us at the same margin. Prices are fixed at these figures for the next batch. Nothing can be bought while enrollment is closed.

How does that compare with everyone else?

A genuinely dedicated WordPress origin sits between about USD 500 and USD 1,000 a month across the market, with multi-node redundant estates running from about USD 1,800. We sit at the bottom of the first band, which is where a single-region operation should be priced.

Do I get an uptime guarantee with it?

Availability and response times are agreed in writing, with a credit attached, rather than advertised as a number with nothing behind it. The figures are put in front of you before you commit to anything.

What happens if the machine fails?

Every site is backed up nightly to Google Cloud Storage, which is separate from the machine, so the sites can be rebuilt on another one. There is no hot standby waiting to take over. That is the honest difference between dedicated and highly available, and it is why the two are priced differently everywhere.

Can I register interest now?

Yes, and it is worth doing. Tell us how many sites you have and what they do, and we will come back to you when enrollment opens, with pricing fixed at whatever we announce rather than a number invented for you.
