What People Ask Before They Move
Will My Site Go Down While I Move It?
Not if you work in the right order. You build and check the copy on its temporary address while your old host is still serving visitors, then change one DNS record at the end. Anyone whose DNS has not refreshed keeps reaching the old server until it has.
Do I Still Need A Caching Plugin?
No, and you should take off the one you have. The page cache and the Redis object cache run on the platform and clear themselves when you publish. A caching plugin on top of that is what causes the stale pages people then blame on the host.
What Happens If I Break Something?
Restore last night’s backup yourself from the members area, or take a manual backup before you start and restore that. Thirty nightly backups are kept for every site, files and database together, and you can restore without opening a ticket.
Which PHP Version Do I Get?
PHP 8.3 or 8.4, chosen per site, on Nginx with MySQL 8.4. If one plugin is not ready for the newer version, stay on the older one until it is.
What If One Website Is Not Enough?
Build covers one website. Grow is USD 40 a month billed yearly for three, Scale is USD 80 for ten. Storage and bandwidth are pooled across the account, so your sites share one allowance instead of each having a small one of its own.
Can My Website Send Email?
Yes, for the mail a website has to send: password resets, contact-form notifications, order confirmations. It goes out through Mailgun with nothing to set up. For a newsletter or anything in volume, connect your own email service over SMTP.
When We Are The Wrong Choice
Not A Fit
- Anything that is not WordPress. A static site, Laravel, Node or a custom PHP app belongs somewhere else.
- Having your site moved for you. Migration here is your own job, and we would rather say so than advertise a service we cannot staff.
- Root access and cPanel. If you want to install whatever you like on the server, a VPS will make you happier.
- Mailboxes at your domain. We host websites, not email. Leave your mail with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or whoever has it now, and leave the MX records pointing there.
- An audience mostly in Europe or the Americas, where being close to Singapore stops being an advantage.
- A number to ring. Support is a ticket from the members area, and there is no phone line behind it.
