A DreamIT Host Alternative For Australian WordPress Sites

A DreamIT Host Alternative For Australian WordPress Sites

Who This Is For

You host a WordPress site with DreamIT Host, the first-invoice discount has run out, and you are asking what the regular price buys and whether a different kind of host would suit the site better. Read on knowing one thing first: Oxyforge runs in Google Cloud’s Singapore region and nowhere else, so for a site whose visitors are in Australia, DreamIT’s Sydney or Melbourne servers have a real advantage that nothing on our side removes.

Key Takeaways

  • DreamIT Host’s Startup plan is A$3.47 a month on the first invoice and A$6.95 a month after, GST included, observed on dreamithost.com.au in October 2026.
  • Every DreamIT discount is 50 per cent off the first invoice only, so Essentials goes from A$8.47 to A$16.95 and Business from A$13.47 to A$26.95.
  • DreamIT publishes hourly self-service backups, free migrations, a 99.95 per cent uptime SLA and a weekday phone line; Oxyforge has nightly backups kept 30 days and none of the other three.
  • Oxyforge serves from Singapore only, with no Australian location, so an Australian audience is served from further away than DreamIT serves it.
  • Stay with DreamIT if your visitors are in Australia, you use the bundled email, or you want a phone number and an uptime figure in writing.

What DreamIT Host Is Genuinely Good At

DreamIT Host is the Australian host that gets recommended to small businesses, and the reasons are printed on its own plan pages. You choose your server location at sign-up from Melbourne, Sydney, Perth or Auckland, which for an Australian audience is exactly where the server should be, and prices are shown in Australian dollars with GST included.

The feature list is unusually complete for the money. Backups run hourly on Acronis and are described as self service, with instant access to the archive from the control panel. WordPress staging and cloning are on the cheapest plan, migrations are free, ticket support is 24/7, and the web hosting plans carry a 99.95 per cent uptime SLA. The Premier tier spells out retention, hourly for 24 hours, daily for seven days, weekly for four weeks and monthly for three months, under a 100 per cent uptime SLA.

Three of those we do not match. DreamIT backs up hourly where we back up nightly, DreamIT will move your site and we will not, and DreamIT publishes an uptime SLA and answers the phone where we do neither.

Where It Actually Hurts

Where It Actually Hurts - Oxyforge

Four things, all on dreamithost.com.au in October 2026.

The headline price is half the real price. Every plan is shown at 50 per cent off, and the footnote says the discount is valid on the first invoice only and up to an annual billing cycle. Startup is A$3.47 a month on that first invoice and A$6.95 after. Essentials goes from A$8.47 to A$16.95, Business from A$13.47 to A$26.95, and the cPanel versions cost a dollar or two more. Premier 75GB is A$24.97 then A$49.95. None of this is hidden, but if you budgeted against the first number, the second year costs double.

The phone line starts at the Business plan, in business hours. Startup and Essentials get 24/7 ticket support. Phone support is listed from the Business plan, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 7:00pm AEST, so the phone number costs A$26.95 a month at the regular rate.

Entry storage is small for the site count. Startup is 5 GB of NVMe storage with 10 addon domains. One WordPress site with a real media library fills 5 GB sooner than you expect, and the next step is 20 GB at A$16.95.

It is shared hosting with resource limits, not a container per site. The plan pages list a memory and CPU limit per account: 2 GB and one core on Startup, 4 GB and two cores on Essentials, 6 GB and three cores on Business. That is a fair way to run shared hosting, and it is still one account sharing a server and a MySQL service with its neighbours. A container or database per site is not published.

DreamIT Host And Oxyforge Compared

DreamIT figures from dreamithost.com.au’s web hosting and Premier pages, observed October 2026, taking the DirectAdmin Startup plan as the entry plan. DreamIT prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. Ours are in US dollars. Where a cell says “not published”, we could not find it on their site and would rather leave a gap than guess. We are not quoting an exchange rate, so compare the currencies yourself on the day.

Underneath, every site here gets its own container, its own Unix user and its own MySQL database, with an nginx page cache, a Redis object cache, PHP 8.3 or 8.4 chosen per site, and MySQL 8.4. Cloudflare sits in front for CDN and DDoS protection. SFTP, WP-CLI and a database manager are on every plan, every new site comes up on its own temporary address straight away, and any environment can be password protected while you work on it. The detail is on the pricing page and the WordPress hosting page.

What Moving Costs You

What Moving Costs You - Oxyforge

An afternoon of your own time, and some distance. The migration is yours to run, because we have no migration team and would rather say so than advertise one we cannot staff. DreamIT will move your site free of charge. We will not move it at all.

The distance is the part to be honest about. Your site leaves a server in Sydney or Melbourne for one in Singapore. Cloudflare keeps serving cached pages and images from near your visitors, but every logged-in request, checkout and form submission goes to Singapore and back. For a mostly cached brochure site that is a small change. For a WooCommerce store selling to Australians it is a real one, so test it before you point the domain rather than take our word.

The day looks like this. Create the site, and it comes up at once on its own temporary address. Copy the DreamIT site onto it with a migration plugin, or over SFTP and WP-CLI if it is large. Check forms, logins, checkout and the pages that earn money from an Australian connection, while DreamIT keeps serving your visitors. Then point the domain’s www record here and close the old plan. The walkthrough is in moving your site. Plan for two things first: DreamIT bundles email and we host no mail, so the mailboxes go to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or a mail host with the MX records left there, and a bare root domain cannot be pointed here, so you connect the www name and forward the bare name to it at your registrar.

Who Should Stay Put

If your visitors are in Australia and the site takes orders or logins, stay with DreamIT, because a server in Sydney beats a server in Singapore for that traffic and we will not pretend otherwise. Stay too if you use the bundled email, if you run a handful of small sites on one plan, if any of them is not WordPress, or if a phone line and an uptime SLA are things you want in writing. DreamIT publishes both and we publish neither. We are a narrow product: managed WordPress, Singapore only, no mail, no cPanel, no phone, and the move is your own job. That suits an Australian business whose audience is in South-East Asia, or one that wants a container, a Unix user and a database of its own per site at a price that never moves. For small business sets out which you are.

What To Do Next

  1. Check what your DreamIT plan renews at, since the figure on the plan page is the first invoice only and the regular price is double it, and check whether your server location is where your visitors are.
  2. Create a site on Oxyforge. It comes up at once on its own temporary address, and a free account can create one temporary site at a time to try the platform first.
  3. Copy your DreamIT site onto that address with a migration plugin, or over SFTP and WP-CLI, following moving your site. The move is your own job.
  4. Test forms, logins and checkout from an Australian connection while DreamIT keeps serving your visitors.
  5. Move the mailboxes first, then point the domain’s www record here and close the old plan. Compare the three plans on the pricing page before you begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does DreamIT Host cost after the first invoice?

Double the headline figure. Every DreamIT web hosting plan is shown at 50 per cent off, and the footnote says the discount applies to the first invoice only, for up to an annual billing cycle. In October 2026 the DirectAdmin Startup plan is A$3.47 a month on that first invoice and A$6.95 after, Essentials A$8.47 then A$16.95, Business A$13.47 then A$26.95, and Premier 75GB A$24.97 then A$49.95, all including GST.

Where are Oxyforge’s servers, and does that matter for an Australian site?

Google Cloud’s Singapore region, and nowhere else. It matters. Cloudflare sits in front of every site and serves cached pages and static files from near the visitor, but a logged-in session, a checkout or a form submission goes back to Singapore. DreamIT lets you pick Melbourne, Sydney, Perth or Auckland at sign-up, and for an audience in Australia that is the better placed server.

Is Oxyforge cheaper than DreamIT Host?

No. DreamIT’s Startup plan is A$6.95 a month at the regular rate for 10 addon domains and bundled email, while our Build plan is 24 US dollars a month, or 20 billed yearly, for one site and no mail. The gap buys a container, a Unix user and a MySQL database per site, nightly backups kept 30 days with a pre-restore backup, and a price that does not change at renewal.

Does DreamIT Host do the migration?

Yes. Free migrations are listed on the plan pages. We do not move sites for customers at all, so on this point DreamIT is ahead of us. The move onto Oxyforge is your own job, done with a migration plugin or over SFTP and WP-CLI, and the guide on moving your site walks through it.

Are DreamIT Host’s backups better than Oxyforge’s?

On frequency, yes. DreamIT backs up hourly on Acronis and describes the backups as self service from the control panel, with the Premier page listing retention of 24 hourly, 7 daily, 4 weekly and 3 monthly copies. We back up nightly and keep 30 days, restored by you from the members area, and we take an automatic backup before every restore so a mistake is reversible. Which you prefer depends on whether you want more copies of the last day or more days.

Does Oxyforge have a phone line or an uptime SLA?

Neither. DreamIT publishes a 99.95 per cent uptime SLA on its web hosting plans, 100 per cent on Premier, and includes phone support Monday to Friday 9:00am to 7:00pm AEST from the Business plan up. Our support is a ticket from the members area, read by the people who run the platform, with no phone line, no published response time and no uptime SLA.
