Exabytes Alternatives for Malaysian WordPress Sites

Exabytes Alternatives for Malaysian WordPress Sites

Who This Is For

You run a WordPress site for a Malaysian business, it has sat on Exabytes for a few years, and the renewal invoice no longer looks like the price you remember agreeing to. Or the site has outgrown a shared Plesk account and you want to know what the next step up actually buys.

Key Takeaways

  • Exabytes WP 17 AI Beginner is RM 21.99 a month on 36 months, RM 38.99 on 12 months and RM 108.99 month to month, observed October 2026.
  • Exabytes does not publish what a WP 17 AI plan costs in month 37, so ask before you sign a three-year term.
  • The Beginner tier gets weekly backups, retention is not published, and the terms say restoration is best-effort with full recovery not guaranteed.
  • Exabytes beats us on a Malaysian data centre, a free migration, a phone line and unlimited mailboxes, none of which we offer.
  • Stay with Exabytes if your data must be held inside Malaysia, your staff email sits on the plan, or you genuinely use 30 sites.

What Exabytes Is Genuinely Good At

Exabytes is the regional default for a reason. Its own site describes 26 or more years in business and more than 160,000 businesses served, and it runs data centres in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the United States, which is more physical footprint than almost any other host a Malaysian small business will consider. The WP 17 AI plans state a Tier 3 data centre in Malaysia, so a site serving Kuala Lumpur or Penang is being served from inside the country.

The service around the hosting is also real. Support runs 24 hours through live chat, WhatsApp, a phone line and tickets, which matters when something breaks at nine at night and you want a human rather than a form. The hosting transfer page says plainly that Exabytes handles the migration, with the wording “We handle the migration. Zero downtime. No technical work on your end.” All four WP plans list the Plesk WordPress Toolkit, which includes a staging environment, and unlimited email accounts come with the plan. Three of the four tiers carry a 100-day money-back guarantee.

And the site counts are generous in a way managed WordPress hosts are not. The entry plan holds 30 websites. If you look after a handful of small sites for clients or for different parts of one business, that is a lot of hosting for very little money.

Where It Actually Hurts

Where It Actually Hurts - Oxyforge

All figures here were read from exabytes.my on 9 October 2026 and will move, so check them yourself before you decide anything.

The headline price is a three-year rate. The plan cards on the WP hosting page carry a term selector with three options, 36 months, 12 months and 1 month, and it opens on 36 months. Switch it and the same plan reprices:

Plan36 months12 months1 month
WP 17 AI BeginnerRM 21.99/moRM 38.99/moRM 108.99/mo
WP 17 AI BusinessRM 43.99/moRM 76.99/moRM 217.99/mo
WP 17 AI EcommerceRM 92.99/moRM 160.99/moRM 457.99/mo
WP 17 AI UltimateRM 205.99/moRM 358.99/moRM 1,028.99/mo

So the plan advertised at RM 21.99 is RM 108.99 if you want to pay month to month, and the RM 108.99 is also the figure struck through on the card as the undiscounted rate. That is a legitimate way to sell hosting, and plenty of Malaysian hosts do the same thing, but it means the number you compare against anything else should be the term you will actually buy.

The renewal rate is not published. Nothing on the WP hosting page says what the plan costs in month 37. If you are about to commit for three years, that is the question to put to sales in writing.

The entry tier is thinner than it looks. WP 17 AI Beginner gets weekly backups rather than daily, no free domain and, per the page’s own terms, no money-back guarantee.

Backups come with a caveat worth reading twice. The terms on that same page say: “Backups are included in all WP 17 AI hosting plans. Restoration is provided on a best-effort basis, and full data recovery is not guaranteed.” Retention is not published, and nothing states that you can restore a backup yourself without asking support.

It is shared hosting. One Plesk account holds 30, 90 or unlimited WordPress sites depending on tier. Per-site container or per-site database isolation is not published, which is the normal arrangement for cPanel and Plesk hosting and is worth knowing if one of those sites is a shop.

Two uptime figures appear on one page. The FAQ answers 99.9 per cent for the WP 17 AI plans and 99.99 per cent for the underlying infrastructure. Ask which applies to your plan.

Exabytes And Oxyforge, Side By Side

Both columns observed October 2026. Where a cell says “not published”, that means we could not find it stated on the vendor’s own site, not that the answer is no.

What Moving Costs You

What Moving Costs You - Oxyforge

Be clear-eyed about this one. Exabytes will move your site for you and charge nothing for it. We will not. Migration at Oxyforge is self-service, and that is a step down in service from what you have.

What you get instead is a sane way to do it yourself. Every new site here comes up on a temporary address straight away, so the real work happens before any DNS changes:

  1. Create the site on your plan. It is live on its temporary address within a minute or two.
  2. Copy the old site across, with a migration plugin, or over SFTP and WP-CLI if it is large.
  3. Check it on the temporary address. Forms, checkout, admin pages, the lot. Password protect it while you work if you would rather nobody else saw it.
  4. Point the domain. Visitors keep hitting Exabytes until DNS catches up, so there is no gap.
  5. Move your mailboxes first, separately. They are on your Exabytes plan and they do not travel with the website.

The step-by-step version is in moving your site, including the plugin route and the manual route.

Who Should Stay Put

If your staff email sits on your Exabytes plan, if someone in the business needs to be able to ring a hosting company, if you host anything that is not WordPress, or if your organisation requires data to be held inside Malaysia, stay where you are. The same goes if you genuinely use 30 sites: nothing we sell comes close to RM 21.99 for that, and pretending otherwise would waste your afternoon.

The Malaysia Question, Answered Plainly

We do not have a Malaysian data centre. We run in Google Cloud’s Singapore region and nowhere else, and we are not planning to describe that as local infrastructure. What is true is that Singapore is next door, the hop from Malaysian networks is short, and for a site serving Malaysian visitors the difference is small enough that it is rarely the thing that makes a page feel slow. What is also true is that our billing entity is Malaysian, so paying us from Malaysia is an ordinary domestic arrangement rather than an overseas sign-up. We quote in US dollars, though, so the ringgit figure on your statement depends on your card’s rate that day.

If what you want is a Malaysian flag on the server, we are the wrong answer and Exabytes is a perfectly good one. If what you want is one site, properly isolated, with backups you restore yourself and a price that does not move, that is the trade we are offering. There is more on how we think about small-business sites on the small business page.

What To Do Next

  1. Ask Exabytes sales in writing what WP 17 AI Beginner costs in month 37, because the renewal rate is not published anywhere on the plan page.
  2. Decide whether a server in Singapore rather than Malaysia is acceptable for your organisation. If it is not, stop here and stay put.
  3. Create a site on Oxyforge and copy the Exabytes site onto its temporary address using moving your site. The migration is your own job.
  4. Test the site on the temporary address, forms and checkout included, while Exabytes keeps serving your visitors.
  5. Move the mailboxes first, then point the domain and close the old plan. Compare Build, Grow and Scale on the pricing page before you create the site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Exabytes cheaper than Oxyforge?

On the sticker price, yes. Exabytes WP 17 AI Beginner is RM 21.99 a month on a 36-month term, observed October 2026, and that buys 30 websites. Oxyforge Build is 24 US dollars a month, or 20 billed yearly, and buys one. The comparison changes if you look at the Exabytes monthly rate, which is RM 108.99 for the same plan, and it changes again if you only need one site and want a container and a database to yourself.

Does Oxyforge have a Malaysian data centre?

No. We run in one Google Cloud region, Singapore, and nowhere else. For a Malaysian audience that is close, and the round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is short. But it is not Malaysian hosting, and if your organisation needs data held inside Malaysia then a Malaysian data centre is the requirement and we do not meet it.

Will Oxyforge move my site off Exabytes for me?

No. Migration here is self-service. Exabytes does the move for you at no charge, so this is a straight step down in service and you should know it before you buy. What we give you instead is a temporary address on every new site, SFTP, WP-CLI and a database manager, so you can copy the site across, check it properly and point the domain when you are ready.

Can I keep my Exabytes mailboxes if I move the website?

Your mailboxes do not come with us. Oxyforge hosts WordPress and nothing else, with no mailboxes at all, while Exabytes includes unlimited email accounts on its WP plans. Move the mail to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or another mail host first, leave the MX records pointing there, and the website move becomes a separate and much smaller job.

What happens to my price at renewal?

At Oxyforge the plan price does not rise at renewal. Build, Grow and Scale are 24, 48 and 96 US dollars a month, or 20, 40 and 80 billed yearly, and that is what the next invoice says too. Exabytes does not publish a renewal rate for the WP 17 AI plans, so the figure to ask about before you sign a 36-month term is what month 37 costs.

Do I pay in ringgit?

We quote in US dollars, so the exact ringgit figure depends on your card’s rate on the day. Our billing entity is Malaysian, which makes the payment side of a Malaysian sign-up ordinary rather than an overseas arrangement, but we do not publish a ringgit price and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
