A NetKL Alternative For Malaysian WordPress Sites

A NetKL Alternative For Malaysian WordPress Sites

Who This Is For

You host WordPress with NetKL, something has gone wrong, and you have read their Data Backup Policy properly for the first time: one backup, taken around 1am, overwriting yesterday’s. Or you are pricing a NetKL alternative because the plan page and the cart quote different specifications for the same plan. Every figure below was read off netkl.com in October 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • NetKL Small Biz is RM300 a year with no monthly cycle at checkout, observed October 2026, and the renewal rate is not published.
  • NetKL keeps one backup, taken daily from about 1am, and each new copy overwrites the one from the day before.
  • The plan page lists myWordPress Plan at RM300 with 50 GB of disc, while the cart shows RM250 with 3 GB for the same plan, so ask which applies before you pay.
  • NetKL includes unlimited mailboxes on your domain from myGold upwards and a hotline you can ring, and we offer neither at any price.
  • Oxyforge Build is 24 US dollars a month, or 240 a year, for a container per site, 30 nightly backups you restore yourself, and a renewal invoice matching the first.

What NetKL Is Genuinely Good At

NetKL Network PLT is a registered Malaysian limited liability partnership with a street address in Kuala Lumpur, a landline on every page and a copyright line starting at 2004. Two decades of trading, and the testimonials on the hosting pages are mostly in Malay, which tells you who the company serves.

The price list is a price list: RM100 a year at the bottom through to RM650 at the top, one figure per plan, no promotional code and no three-year rate divided out to look monthly. The allowances are generous for the money too. Small Biz is RM300 a year for 50 GB of SSD, 150 GB of monthly bandwidth, 50 MySQL databases and 30 addon domains, and every plan from myGold upwards includes unlimited email accounts on your own domain, which we do not offer at any price.

They also publish their backup policy in plain language, unflattering parts included, in the main navigation rather than buried in a terms document. Support is tickets, live chat, email and a hotline, cPanel is on every plan, and Softaculous installs WordPress for you.

Where It Actually Hurts

Where It Actually Hurts - Oxyforge

Everything below was read from netkl.com and billing.netkl.com on 9 October 2026.

There is one backup, and it overwrites itself. The policy says a full backup runs daily from about 1am and that each new backup deletes and replaces the previous one. Their own wording draws the consequence: if the site has carried an error for weeks, the only copy carries it too. Whether you can restore that copy yourself without a ticket is not stated. The same page adds that shared hosting data is deleted twenty-nine days after expiry, with no prior warning.

The plan page and the cart disagree. The WordPress hosting page lists myWordPress Plan at RM300 with 50 GB of disc, 150 GB of monthly bandwidth, 50 databases and 30 addon domains. The cart entry for the same plan shows RM250.00 MYR annually with 3 GB, 45 GB of bandwidth, 10 databases and 5 addon domains. Both are their own pages, live the same day. Ask which applies before you pay.

The two Pro plans buy an import, not a migration. myWordPress Pro (BS) and Pro (WP) are RM310 a year, and the extra RM10 covers NetKL importing the entries and comments from a Blogger or WordPress.com blog into a fresh install. Moving a self-hosted site from another host is not published as a service.

Several things you would want to check are not published. No server location, no renewal rate, no staging environment in any feature list, no per-account CPU, memory or inode limits, no PHP or MySQL version. Support hours are stated two ways: the hosting pages say 24/7 including public holidays, the footer says Monday to Sunday, 10am to 10pm. Ask which covers a Sunday night.

NetKL And Oxyforge Compared

NetKL figures from netkl.com and billing.netkl.com, observed October 2026, taking Small Biz as the nearest entry plan. “Not published” means we could not find it stated on their own site and would rather leave a gap than guess.

MigrationNot published for a self-hosted site. The RM310 Pro plans import entries and comments from Blogger or WordPress.comSelf-service. We do not move sites for customers
SupportTickets, live chat, email and a call-only hotline. No phone line, no published uptime SLA, no contractual response time

Our column runs on Google Cloud Singapore with an nginx page cache and a Redis object cache already on, PHP 8.3 or 8.4 per site, MySQL 8.4, nightly malware scanning, free SSL, SFTP, WP-CLI and a database manager. Cloudflare sits in front for CDN and DDoS protection, on its free plan, so there is no web application firewall here. The numbers are on pricing.

What Moving Costs You

What Moving Costs You - Oxyforge

Your own afternoon, because we do not migrate sites. NetKL will import a Blogger blog for RM10 extra; nobody here will touch your site at any price. That is a real gap in service and we would rather name it than dress it up.

What you get instead is a move with no maintenance window, because a new site is live on its own temporary address the moment you create it:

  1. Create the site and note the temporary address.
  2. Copy the site across, with a migration plugin or over SFTP with WP-CLI, which is faster on anything large.
  3. Test on that address, password protected if you like, checking forms, logins and checkout.
  4. Point the domain’s www record here. Until DNS catches up NetKL is still serving your visitors, so nothing goes dark.
  5. Take your own full cPanel backup before you cancel, and do not cancel early.

Email comes first, not last. NetKL gives you unlimited mailboxes on your domain and we host no mail at all, so move those to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or a mail host before the website moves, leaving the MX records pointed there. A bare root domain cannot point at us either, so connect the www name and forward the bare name to it at your registrar. The sequence is in moving your site.

Then geography. We serve from Google Cloud Singapore and nowhere else, with no Malaysian presence and no Malaysian data centre. For visitors in Malaysia that is one short hop further out, and the hop is small, which is the honest version of the claim rather than a boast. Paying is the easy part: our payments run through a Malaysian Stripe account, so a Malaysian card works normally, though we price in US dollars.

Who Should Stay Put

Stay with NetKL if the mailboxes on your domain live in that cPanel account, if RM300 a year is the number the project can bear, if thirty addon domains is the reason you bought the plan, or if a hotline you can actually ring matters more than how the sites are separated from one another. Stay if you host anything that is not WordPress, because we host nothing else, and stay if cPanel is how you work. We are narrow on purpose: managed WordPress, Singapore only, no mail, no phone, no migration service, no uptime SLA. If you look after sites for other people, for agencies is the better page to read next.

What To Do Next

If you have decided to look, do these five things in this order.

  1. Ask NetKL in writing which specification applies to your plan, the RM300 plan page with 50 GB or the RM250 cart entry with 3 GB, and whether you can restore their single backup yourself.
  2. Take your own full cPanel backup today, because theirs is overwritten every night at about 1am.
  3. Move your mailboxes to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or a mail host, since we host no mail.
  4. Choose a plan on pricing, create the site, and copy it onto the temporary address yourself with a plugin or over SFTP with WP-CLI, following moving your site.
  5. Test forms, logins and checkout on that address, then point the www record, and cancel NetKL only once the site is being served from here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does NetKL cost, and can I pay monthly?

Annually only, as far as their cart shows. Observed October 2026, the shared plans run RM100, RM150 and RM250 a year for beginners and RM300, RM400, RM500 and RM650 for advanced users, and the three WordPress plans are listed at RM300, RM310 and RM310. The renewal rate is not published, so ask for it.

How many backups does NetKL keep?

One. Their Data Backup Policy says a full backup runs daily at about 1am and that each new backup overwrites the one from the day before, so a single copy exists at any time. The page calls the backup a courtesy and advises keeping your own copies.

Where are NetKL’s servers?

Not published. Their pages describe SSD servers behind multiple Tier 3 ISP backbones with 99.98 per cent uptime, and the company is a registered Malaysian LLP with a Kuala Lumpur address, but no data centre location is stated anywhere on their own site.

Is Oxyforge worth four times the price as a NetKL alternative?

Only for a site that earns. NetKL Small Biz is RM300 a year and our Build plan is 240 US dollars, and no feature list makes that gap disappear. What it buys is a container, a Unix user and a MySQL database per site, 30 nightly backups you restore yourself, staging, and a renewal invoice matching the first.
