An Oryon Alternative For Singapore WordPress Sites

An Oryon Alternative For Singapore WordPress Sites

Who This Is For

You host a WordPress site with Oryon, the renewal notice has arrived, and you are wondering what the next year actually buys. This is a straight comparison of the two, with every Oryon figure taken from oryon.net’s own plan pages, observed in October 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • Oryon’s BizValue plan is S$265 for the first year and S$288 a year after that, before GST, observed on oryon.net in October 2026.
  • BizPro rises from S$356 to S$588 at the first renewal and BizMax from S$723 to S$1,088, rises of roughly 65 and 50 per cent.
  • The renewal for the Power Basic managed WordPress plan, listed at S$360 a year, is not published, and neither is a staging environment.
  • Oryon advertises free migrations, 24/7 support on WhatsApp and a 99.9 per cent uptime guarantee, and Oxyforge offers none of the three.
  • Stay with Oryon if you use the bundled mailboxes, run five or eight sites on one account, or want an uptime figure in writing.

What Oryon Is Genuinely Good At

Oryon has been doing this since 1998, which in Singapore hosting is close to the beginning. That means the support rota, the billing and the migration process have all been running for twenty-five years, and a business that wants a local supplier it can still reach next year has a real reason to pick them.

They also print their renewal prices directly underneath the first-year prices, which is rarer than it should be and deserves credit. The plans run on cPanel with NVMe SSD storage and LiteSpeed, 14 daily backups are standard, migrations are advertised as free, and support is 24/7 across live chat, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger with a stated commitment to answer in under 59 seconds. There is a 99.9 per cent uptime guarantee, and the company is CSA Cyber Essentials certified.

Three of those we simply do not have. Oryon will move your site for you, Oryon answers on WhatsApp, and Oryon puts an uptime figure and a response time in writing. We do none of the three.

Where It Actually Hurts

Where It Actually Hurts - Oxyforge

Four things, all checkable on their own pages in October 2026.

The renewal rise is real on the plans most businesses buy. BizValue is gentle: S$265 for the first year, S$288 after. BizPro goes from S$356 to S$588, and BizMax from S$723 to S$1,088, rises of roughly 65 and 50 per cent at the first renewal. The plans bill annually, so the day you sign is the day you commit to the year.

The managed WordPress renewal is not published at all. Power Basic is listed at S$360 a year for one WordPress install, 10 GB of NVMe storage and 100 GB of monthly traffic, with no second-year figure beside it the way the business plans have one. The next managed WordPress tier is Enterprise Custom at $299 a month, with nothing in between.

Staging is not published. Neither the business hosting page nor the managed WordPress page mentions a staging environment, and for a plan sold on WordPress convenience, somewhere safe to test a plugin update is the thing you miss first. It may exist unadvertised, so ask.

The headline prices are before GST, and the backup figure is a count rather than a promise you can use. Every number above is the ex-GST one, with the GST-inclusive figure printed beside it: S$265 becomes S$288.85, S$723 becomes S$788.07. And “14 x daily backups” tells you how many copies exist, not whether you can restore one yourself at 11pm without opening a ticket. We could not find that stated.

Oryon And Oxyforge Compared

Oryon figures from oryon.net’s business hosting and managed WordPress pages, observed October 2026, taking BizValue as the entry shared plan and Power Basic as the entry WordPress plan. Oryon prices are in Singapore dollars before GST unless marked. Where a cell says “not published”, we could not find it stated on their site and would rather leave a gap than guess. We are not quoting an exchange rate, so compare the currencies yourself on the day.

Underneath, every site here gets its own container, its own Unix user and its own MySQL database, with an nginx page cache, a Redis object cache, PHP 8.3 or 8.4 chosen per site, and MySQL 8.4. Cloudflare sits in front for CDN and DDoS protection. SFTP, WP-CLI and a database manager are on every plan, every new site comes up on its own temporary address straight away, and any environment can be password protected while you work on it. The detail is on the pricing page and the WordPress hosting page.

What Moving Costs You

What Moving Costs You - Oxyforge

An afternoon of your own time, because the migration is yours to run. We have no migration team and would rather tell you that than advertise one we cannot staff. Oryon will do it for you free of charge. We will not do it at all.

The day looks like this. Create the site, and it comes up at once on its own temporary address. Copy the Oryon site onto that address with a migration plugin, or by hand over SFTP and WP-CLI if the site is large. Then check it properly: forms, logins, checkout, the pages that earn money. Oryon keeps serving your visitors the whole time, so there is no window where the site is down. When you are satisfied, point the domain’s www record here and close the old plan. The full walkthrough is in moving your site.

Two things to plan for first. Your mailboxes do not travel with the website, because there is no mail here at all, so move them to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or a mail host and leave the MX records pointed there. That matters more leaving Oryon than most hosts, because the mailboxes sit in the same account as the website. And a bare root domain cannot be pointed here, so you connect the www name and set URL forwarding at your registrar from the bare name to it.

Who Should Stay Put

If the mailboxes bundled with your Oryon plan are something you use every day, if you are running five or eight small sites on one BizPro or BizMax account, if any of those sites is not WordPress, or if a 99.9 per cent uptime guarantee and a WhatsApp number you can message at midnight are things you want in writing, stay with Oryon. They publish both and we publish neither. We are a narrow product: managed WordPress, Singapore only, no mail, no cPanel, no phone line, and the move is your own job. That suits a business with one or a few WordPress sites that genuinely earn their keep, and it is poor value for a brochure site nobody touches. For small business sets out which you probably are.

What To Do Next

  1. Ask Oryon in writing what Power Basic renews at, because that is the one figure their plan pages do not print, and ask whether you can restore one of the 14 daily backups yourself without a ticket.
  2. Create the site on Oxyforge. It comes up at once on its own temporary address.
  3. Copy your Oryon site onto that address with a migration plugin, or over SFTP and WP-CLI, following moving your site. The move is your own job, and we do not do it for you.
  4. Test forms, logins, checkout and the pages that earn money, while Oryon keeps serving your visitors.
  5. Move the mailboxes first, then point the domain’s www record here and close the old plan. Compare the three plans on the pricing page before you begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Oryon cost at renewal?

Oryon prints the renewal beside the first-year price, which is more than most hosts do. In October 2026 BizValue is S$265 for the first year then S$288 a year, BizPro is S$356 then S$588, and BizMax is S$723 then S$1,088, all before GST. The renewal for the managed WordPress plan is not published, so ask for it in writing.

Is Oxyforge cheaper than Oryon?

No, and on the shared plans it is not close. BizValue renews at S$288 a year for three websites and thirty mailboxes, while our Build plan is 24 US dollars a month, or 20 billed yearly, for one site and no mail. The gap buys a container, a Unix user and a MySQL database per site, staging on every plan, nightly backups kept 30 days that you restore yourself, and a price that never moves.

Does Oryon do the migration?

Yes. Their pages advertise free migrations, and free WordPress installation and migration on the WordPress plans. We do not move sites for customers at all, so on this point Oryon is ahead of us and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Does Oryon include a staging environment?

We could not find staging stated on Oryon’s business hosting or managed WordPress pages in October 2026, so our table says not published rather than guessing. It may exist unadvertised, so ask. Staging is included on every Oxyforge plan, including the entry one.

Does Oxyforge include mailboxes like Oryon does?

No. Oryon bundles 30 to 150 cPanel mailboxes depending on the plan, which is genuinely convenient for a small business. We host managed WordPress only and there is no mail here. Mailboxes on your own domain belong on Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or a mail host, and the MX records stay pointed there whatever happens to the website.

Does Oxyforge have a phone line or an uptime SLA?

Neither. Oryon publishes a 99.9 per cent uptime guarantee and a commitment to answer in under 59 seconds, across 24/7 live chat, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Our support is a ticket from the members area, read by the people who run the platform, with no phone line, no published response time and no uptime SLA. If a number in a contract is what you are shopping for, Oryon has one and we do not.
