ServerFreak Alternatives for WordPress in Malaysia
Who This Is For
Your WordPress site is on ServerFreak, you are happy enough with it, and then you go to pay and discover there is no monthly option and the price you remembered was a three-year rate. Or the entry plan’s 10 GB of disk and 25 GB of monthly transfer have stopped being enough and you are working out whether to step up a tier or step sideways to something else.
Key Takeaways
- ServerFreak has no monthly billing, and WP Starter is RM 262.90 a year, RM 495 for two years and RM 715 for three, observed October 2026.
- The advertised “from RM 19.86/mo” is the three-year figure divided out, and paying for one year works out at about RM 21.91 a month.
- ServerFreak does not publish a renewal rate, backup retention, or whether you can restore a backup yourself.
- ServerFreak beats us on a choice of Malaysian, Singapore or US data centre, free migration under 5 GB and unlimited mailboxes, none of which we offer.
- Stay with ServerFreak if your mailboxes sit on the hosting account, you host anything other than WordPress, or cPanel is how you work.
What ServerFreak Is Genuinely Good At
ServerFreak Technologies Sdn Bhd has been selling hosting in Malaysia since 2003, which is longer than most of the market, and the WordPress plans are built on the things that actually make WordPress quick on shared hosting: LiteSpeed Web Server with LSCache, cPanel, Imunify360 and CloudLinux, with MySQL 8, SSH access and Git included on the account. That is a sensible stack rather than a marketing stack.
Three other things stand out. You choose the data centre at sign-up, from Malaysia, Singapore or the United States, which very few hosts at this price let you do. Migration is free if the site is under 5 GB, so the move onto ServerFreak is somebody else’s job. And the plans publish their resource limits properly: the entry plan states 1 CPU core, 1 GB of RAM, a 250,000 inode limit, 20 entry processes, 2 MB/s of I/O and 150 IOPS, which is more honesty about shared hosting than “unlimited” ever gives you.
Backups are Acronis, described as daily onsite and offsite. Support is live chat, tickets and a helpdesk, advertised as 24/7/365, with the page saying matters are attended to “within 24 hours or less”. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee, and a 99.9 per cent uptime guarantee excluding scheduled maintenance.
Where It Actually Hurts

Everything below was read from the ServerFreak WordPress hosting page on 9 October 2026. Prices move, so check before you act. One small thing to know first: serverfreak.com now redirects to web-hosting.net.my, and the footer there still reads ServerFreak Technologies Sdn Bhd, so you are in the right place even though the address bar changes.
There is no monthly billing. The FAQ is direct about it: “Can we pay monthly? No, unfortunately, payments can only be made on an annual basis.” For a new site that is a year of hosting paid up front before you know whether the project works.
Every headline price is a three-year price. The note under the pricing table says “All prices shown are based on a triennial subscription.” The published term prices are:
| Plan | Annual | Biennial | Triennial |
|---|---|---|---|
| WP Starter | RM 262.90 | RM 495 | RM 715 |
| WP Professional | RM 438.90 | RM 858 | RM 1,254 |
| WP Ultimate | RM 548.90 | RM 1,045 | RM 1,540 |
So WP Starter is advertised “from RM 19.86/mo”, which is the RM 715 triennial figure divided out. Pay for one year and it is RM 262.90, or about RM 21.91 a month. The gap is smaller than at some Malaysian hosts, and the page is clear about the basis, which is to its credit.
The renewal rate is not published. The term table is the standing price list, but nothing states what a plan renews at, and the free domain note says explicitly that “normal renewal rates apply upon renewal” for the domain. Worth asking about the hosting too.
The entry plan is small, and bandwidth is metered on it. WP Starter is 10 GB of disk, 25 GB of monthly data transfer and one domain, with no free domain included. Extra bandwidth is an add-on at RM 3 per GB per month. The two plans above it are unmetered, so this is really a question of whether WP Starter fits.
Staging is not named in the published feature list. WordPress Toolkit Deluxe is included, and the page describes it as a way to install, configure and manage WordPress sites, but the feature list does not mention a staging environment. If you rely on one, confirm it before you buy.
Backup retention and self-restore are not published. Daily onsite and offsite Acronis backups are listed. How many days are kept, and whether you can restore one yourself without opening a ticket, are not stated on the page.
The PHP wording is dated. The page talks about supporting PHP 8.0 and 8.1, while the account feature list says “PHP, all versions available”. If you need PHP 8.3 or 8.4, ask rather than assume.
ServerFreak And Oxyforge, Side By Side
Both columns observed October 2026. “Not published” means we could not find it stated on the vendor’s own site, not that the answer is no.
| ServerFreak WP Starter | Oxyforge Build | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price, monthly and annual | No monthly billing. RM 262.90 a year, RM 495 for two years, RM 715 for three. Advertised “from RM 19.86/mo” on the three-year basis | 24 US dollars monthly, or 20 a month billed yearly at 240 a year |
| Renewal price | Not published | Unchanged. No rise at renewal |
| Singapore region | Yes, chosen at sign-up, alongside Malaysia and the United States | Yes, Google Cloud Singapore, and nowhere else |
| Sites included | 1 domain on WP Starter, 30 on Professional, unlimited on Ultimate | 1 site on Build, 3 on Grow, 10 on Scale |
| Storage and bandwidth | 10 GB SSD, 25 GB monthly transfer, extra bandwidth RM 3 per GB per month. Unmetered transfer on higher plans | 10 GB storage, 50 GB bandwidth, pooled across the account rather than fixed per site |

| Migration | Free if the site is under 5 GB; contact sales above that | Self-service. We do not move sites for customers |
| Support | Live chat, tickets and helpdesk, advertised 24/7/365, “within 24 hours or less”. 99.9 per cent uptime guarantee stated, excluding scheduled maintenance | Tickets from the members area, read by the people who run the platform. No phone line, no published response time, no uptime SLA |
For completeness on our side: Google Cloud in Singapore, an Nginx page cache and a Redis object cache already switched on, Cloudflare in front for CDN and DDoS protection, PHP 8.3 or 8.4 selectable per site, MySQL 8.4, nightly malware scanning on every site, free SSL on every domain, SFTP, WP-CLI, a database manager and password protection on any environment. The whole list is on the managed WordPress hosting page, and the plan numbers are on pricing.
What Moving Costs You

ServerFreak will move a site under 5 GB onto its platform for free. We will not move anything. Migration at Oxyforge is your own job, and if that sounds like a downgrade, it is one.
The compensation is that the platform is built so you can do it without a maintenance window. A new site is live on its own temporary address immediately, so the risky part happens off to the side:
- Create the site on your plan and note its temporary address.
- Copy the site across, either with a migration plugin or over SFTP with WP-CLI, which is the faster route on anything large.
- Test on the temporary address. Password protect it while you are working if you would rather it stayed private.
- Point the domain when you are satisfied. Until DNS catches up, visitors are still being served by ServerFreak, so nothing goes dark.
- Sort out email separately and first. ServerFreak gives you unlimited mailboxes; we give you none. Move the mail to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or another mail host, and leave the MX records there.
The detailed walkthrough, both the plugin route and the manual one, is in moving your site.
Who Should Stay Put
Stay on ServerFreak if your mailboxes live on the hosting account, if you want to be able to pick a Malaysian or a US data centre, if you run anything other than WordPress on the plan, or if 30 and unlimited site counts are the reason you bought it. Stay too if a free migration under 5 GB is the deciding factor, because we cannot match it. And if cPanel is how you work, moving to a platform without it is a change of habit you have not asked for.
The Malaysia Question, Answered Plainly
We have no Malaysian data centre. Oxyforge runs in Google Cloud’s Singapore region and nowhere else, so against a host that will put your site in Kuala Lumpur we are a short hop further away. For visitors in Malaysia that hop is small, which is why we think the trade is reasonable, not why we think it is invisible. Our billing entity is Malaysian, so paying from Malaysia is straightforward, but we price in US dollars and the ringgit figure on your statement will be whatever your card’s rate is that day.
What you get for accepting Singapore is the part a shared cPanel account cannot give you: one container, one Unix user and one database per site, 30 days of nightly backups you restore yourself in a click, staging on every plan, and a price that is the same next year. The numbers are on the pricing page, and if you look after sites for other people the agencies page is the better starting point.
What To Do Next
- Ask ServerFreak what WP Starter renews at, since the term table is published but the renewal rate is not, and whether a staging environment is included.
- Check your current usage against the 10 GB of disk and 25 GB of monthly transfer on WP Starter, so you know which plan you are really comparing.
- Create a site on Oxyforge and copy the ServerFreak site onto its temporary address with moving your site. We do not migrate sites; the move is yours to run.
- Test it on the temporary address, password protected if you prefer, while ServerFreak keeps serving your visitors.
- Move the mailboxes first, then point the domain and close the old plan. Pick a plan on the pricing page before you start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pay ServerFreak monthly?
No. Its own FAQ says payments can only be made on an annual basis, and the plan page notes that every headline price shown is based on a triennial subscription. The published annual figures for the WordPress plans, observed October 2026, are RM 262.90, RM 438.90 and RM 548.90 a year. If monthly billing is what you need, that alone decides it.
Is Oxyforge faster than ServerFreak for Malaysian visitors?
We do not publish speed figures, because we have not measured a like-for-like comparison and we are not going to invent one. What we can tell you is where the servers are. ServerFreak lets you pick Malaysia, Singapore or the United States at sign-up. We serve from Google Cloud in Singapore only. A Malaysian host serving Malaysian visitors has the shorter hop, and Singapore is the next best thing.
Does ServerFreak migrate my site for me?
Yes, within a limit. Its FAQ says free migration is available if your site is under 5 GB, and asks you to contact sales if it is larger. Oxyforge does not migrate sites at all. Ours is self-service, with a temporary address, SFTP and WP-CLI to do it with, which is less service than ServerFreak offers.
What do I lose by moving from ServerFreak to Oxyforge?
cPanel, unlimited email accounts, the choice of a Malaysian or US data centre, the free domain on the higher plans, the 24-hour support promise, and free migration. You also lose the ability to host anything that is not WordPress. Those are real losses, and for some sites they outweigh everything on the other side of the ledger.
How much bandwidth do I actually need?
Less than most plans advertise. The ServerFreak entry plan allows 25 GB of monthly data transfer and sells more at RM 3 per GB per month; the two plans above it are unmetered. Oxyforge Build includes 50 GB a month, pooled across the account rather than fixed per site, and storage and bandwidth both pool the same way. A small brochure site rarely passes 10 GB a month.
Does the Oxyforge price go up when I renew?
No. Build, Grow and Scale are 24, 48 and 96 US dollars a month, or 20, 40 and 80 a month billed yearly, and the renewal invoice is the same figure. ServerFreak does not publish a renewal rate, so if you are weighing a triennial subscription at RM 715 against an annual one at RM 262.90, ask what the next term costs before you commit.
