SiteGround Alternatives For Singapore WordPress Sites

Oxyforge - What to look for in a siteground alternative

Who This Is For

You host a WordPress site with SiteGround, the first-year discount has run out, and the renewal notice is roughly four and a half times the number you signed up at. This post is for a Singapore business weighing SiteGround alternatives, with every SiteGround figure taken from siteground.com’s plan pages and observed in October 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • SiteGround’s StartUp plan is 3.99 US dollars a month for the first 12 months and renews at 17.99, observed on siteground.com in October 2026, before VAT.
  • GrowBig rises from 6.69 to 29.99 and GoGeek from 10.69 to 44.99, so every plan costs roughly four and a half times as much from the second year.
  • Singapore is one of SiteGround’s 11 data centres, and daily backups are kept 30 days on every plan.
  • Staging and on-demand backups are gated to GrowBig and above; StartUp gets neither.
  • Our Build plan is 24 US dollars a month, or 20 billed yearly, with staging and self-restore backups included, and renews at the same price.

What SiteGround Is Genuinely Good At

SiteGround is one of the better-run large hosts, and anyone who has used it for a few years knows that. It runs on Google Cloud, it lists 11 data centres on four continents including Singapore and Sydney, and customers choose their location and can change it later from the Client Area. For a Singapore business that is the single most important thing to get right, and SiteGround gets it right.

The plans are well specified. Daily backups are taken automatically and kept for 30 days on every plan, with restore points in Site Tools. SSL, a CDN, email hosting, WP-CLI and SSH are included, autoupdates are managed, and the free SiteGround Migrator plugin moves a WordPress site in without downtime. Support is in-house and 24/7 by live chat, ticket and phone. And SiteGround prints its renewal price directly beside the introductory one, which is rarer than it should be.

Three of those we do not have. SiteGround answers the phone, SiteGround bundles mailboxes, and SiteGround publishes an uptime figure. We do none of the three.

Where It Actually Hurts

Where It Actually Hurts - Oxyforge

Four things, all checkable on siteground.com in October 2026.

The renewal is the real price, and it is a big step. StartUp is 3.99 US dollars a month for the first 12 months and renews at 17.99. GrowBig is 6.69 then 29.99. GoGeek is 10.69 then 44.99. Every plan is prepaid for 12 months and priced before VAT, so the second year costs roughly four and a half times the first. Over three years StartUp is about 480 US dollars, of which 48 is the year you saw on the sign-up page.

Staging is not on the entry plan. The plan pages list staging under GrowBig’s exclusive features and staging with Git under GoGeek. StartUp has neither, so the plan most small businesses start on has nowhere safe to test a plugin update. On-demand backups sit in the same gated group.

The entry plan is one website, with shared resources. StartUp is one site and 10 GB, suited by SiteGround’s own description to around 10,000 monthly visits. GrowBig and GoGeek allow unlimited websites, which is generous, but they share the resources of one account, and the plan pages do not describe per-site isolation.

A staffed migration is paid, and the price is not on the page. The free route is the Migrator plugin, which is self-service. SiteGround’s knowledge base says a manual transfer by their team is a paid service, and we could not find the figure stated, so ask before you count on it.

SiteGround And Oxyforge Compared

SiteGround figures from siteground.com’s WordPress and web hosting plan pages, observed October 2026, taking StartUp as the entry plan. SiteGround prices are in US dollars before VAT, so both columns are in the same currency. Where a cell says “not published”, we could not find it stated on their site and would rather leave a gap than guess.

Underneath, every site here gets its own container, its own Unix user and its own MySQL database, with an nginx page cache, a Redis object cache, PHP 8.3 or 8.4 chosen per site, and MySQL 8.4. Cloudflare sits in front for CDN and DDoS protection. SFTP, WP-CLI and a database manager are on every plan, every new site comes up on its own temporary address, and any environment can be password protected while you work on it. The detail is on the pricing page and the WordPress hosting page.

What Moving Costs You

What Moving Costs You - Oxyforge

An afternoon of your own time, because the migration is yours to run. We have no migration team and would rather tell you that than advertise one we cannot staff. SiteGround at least gives you a plugin to move in with. We give you a guide.

The day looks like this. Create the site, and it comes up at once on its own temporary address. Copy the SiteGround site onto that address with a migration plugin, or by hand over SFTP and WP-CLI if the site is large. Then check it properly: forms, logins, checkout, the pages that earn money. SiteGround keeps serving your visitors the whole time, so there is no window where the site is down. When you are satisfied, point the domain’s www record here and close the old plan. The full walkthrough is in moving your site.

Two things to plan for first. Your mailboxes do not travel with the website, because there is no mail here at all, so move them to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or a mail host and leave the MX records pointed there. And a bare root domain cannot be pointed here, so you connect the www name and set URL forwarding at your registrar from the bare name to it. SiteGround bills the year up front, so if you are mid-term, check their refund terms and time the switch near the renewal date.

Who Should Stay Put

If you are in your first year and the 3.99 is doing its job, if you run several small sites on one GrowBig account and like not counting them, if any of those sites is not WordPress, if your staff mailboxes live on the plan, or if 24/7 phone support and a published uptime figure are things you want in writing, stay with SiteGround. It publishes all of that and we publish none of it. We are a narrow product: managed WordPress, Singapore only, no mail, no phone line, no uptime SLA, and the move is your own job. That suits a business with one or a few WordPress sites that genuinely earn their keep, and it is poor value for a brochure site nobody touches. For small business sets out which you probably are.

What To Do Next

  1. Find your SiteGround renewal date in the Client Area and write down the renewal price for your plan, because that figure, not the one you signed up at, is what you are comparing.
  2. Create the site on Oxyforge. It comes up at once on its own temporary address.
  3. Copy your SiteGround site onto that address with a migration plugin, or over SFTP and WP-CLI, following moving your site. The move is your own job, and we do not do it for you.
  4. Test forms, logins, checkout and the pages that earn money, while SiteGround keeps serving your visitors.
  5. Move the mailboxes first, then point the domain’s www record here and close the old plan. Compare the three plans on the pricing page before you begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does SiteGround cost at renewal?

SiteGround prints the renewal beside the introductory price, which deserves credit. In October 2026 StartUp is 3.99 US dollars a month for the first 12 months and renews at 17.99, GrowBig is 6.69 then 29.99, and GoGeek is 10.69 then 44.99, all prepaid for a year and before VAT. The renewal is roughly four and a half times the first year, and it is the number to budget against.

Does SiteGround have servers in Singapore?

Yes. Singapore is one of the 11 data centres SiteGround lists on its plan pages, alongside Sydney and nine in Europe and North America, and customers pick the location and can change it from the Client Area. That is a real point in SiteGround’s favour. We serve from Google Cloud Singapore and nowhere else.

Is Oxyforge cheaper than SiteGround?

In the first year, no: StartUp is 3.99 US dollars a month and our Build plan is 24, or 20 billed yearly. From the second year, Build at 20 a month on annual billing is a little above StartUp’s 17.99 renewal and well under GrowBig’s 29.99. The gap buys a container, Unix user and MySQL database per site, staging and self-restore backups on the entry plan, and a price that never moves.

Does SiteGround do the migration?

For WordPress, the free SiteGround Migrator plugin moves a site in with no downtime, and their knowledge base says a manual transfer by their team is a paid service without printing the price. Moving to Oxyforge is your own job with a plugin or over SFTP and WP-CLI, and we do not offer a staffed migration at any price.

Does SiteGround include staging on the cheapest plan?

No. On the plan pages observed in October 2026, staging is listed under GrowBig, and GoGeek adds Git, while StartUp has neither. On-demand backups are also GrowBig and above. Staging and self-restore backups are on every Oxyforge plan, including the entry one.

Does Oxyforge have a phone line or an uptime SLA?

Neither. SiteGround offers 24/7 support by live chat, ticket and phone, and its pages cite 99.9 per cent uptime. Our support is a ticket from the members area, read by the people who run the platform, with no phone line, no published response time and no uptime SLA. If a contract figure matters to you, SiteGround has one and we do not.
